Estudo de coorte | Cuidados agressivos no final da vida ainda são comuns entre adultos mais velhos com câncer metastático nos EUA
27 Fev, 2023 | 11:44hResumo: O estudo teve como objetivo comparar os marcadores de cuidados agressivos no final da vida entre adultos mais velhos com câncer metastático residentes de casas de repouso e aqueles que vivem na comunidade. O estudo analisou dados de 146.329 pacientes que morreram de câncer metastático de mama, cólon/reto, pulmão, pâncreas ou próstata entre 2013 e 2017, e observou que os cuidados agressivos no final da vida foram mais comuns entre os residentes de casas de repouso do que entre os residentes na comunidade (63,6% vs. 58,3%). Mais de uma internação hospitalar nos últimos 30 dias de vida e morte no hospital foram os principais marcadores associados a uma maior prevalência de cuidados agressivos no final da vida. Os autores sugerem que intervenções que visem esses fatores poderiam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados no final da vida.
